Well, you made it. Another year has passed. You survived the holiday season, your in-laws, the shopping madness and the holiday cookies. *Cough Cough*, well maybe not the holiday cookies. So now what? It’s the famous “resolution” time. Time to shed that extra fat, build some muscle, train for that 5k you keep putting off, feel better and look better. Simple, right?
Well, maybe not that simple. We all need to start somewhere. Powered by our best intentions, we decide to get into a fitness routine. So we search for the cheapest deal in town, pay ten bucks and boom – good to go.
Large “globo” gyms make their money betting on the chances you aren’t showing up. In January these gyms do get very crowded. This can be very intimidating when you are unsure of what to do and how to do it! We’ve all been there at some point asking questions to ourselves like:
What should I do today? How long should I workout for? What should I do to warm up? Am I doing this right? What does that machine do? Why is that person staring at me? How long do I have to wait for that machine to be available? Why isn’t anyone talking to me? Do I smell? Why am I doing this to myself?
Many of us don’t know the answers to these questions, so we revert back to the treadmill, elliptical, bike, or simply leaving. We feel out of place and awkward. A few weeks pass, you don’t see results, you are bored, and you give up, thinking exercise just isn’t for you.
Exercise isn’t one-dimensional. Fitness IS for everyone and that is where Bridge The Gap CrossFit meets you along the way! I know what you are saying to yourself, “here we go another CrossFit rant,” or “I see those people on Youtube and I sure as hell can’t do that.” or our favorite “I’m not joining that cult.” Guess what, you and I live in the real world, where the average joe, (that’s me and you) can do CrossFit; and we see amazing results. Don’t believe me, that’s fine, you don’t have to take my word for it. Come in and talk to our members face to face. Each of our classes our led professionally by a coach who explains the workout stimulus, instructs a group warm up relative to the days movements, instructs all the movements you will see that day, then makes sure everybody has the proper modifications, if any are needed. We then kick off the workout where everyone is pushing one and other. Warning – that noise you hear during your workouts is your other BTG members cheering you on and pushing you to finish the workout. Class is over when the last member finishes their workout.
This year, try something different. Try investing in yourself & your health. Try working with trainers who are betting on your success in the gym instead of your absence. Come have fun with us and oh yeah, get into really great shape too!
