1.) What’s Your Name and Age? Where are you from? What do you do for a living?
Breanna (Bre) Stemler, or as Jeff says BREEEEST, 28 years old. I grew up in Horsham; which a lot of people have no clue where that is. I always reference the WIllow Grove Mall or Ft. Washington area. I work for EXOS – A human performance company, as a health fitness specialist… aka I work in the fitness industry in the corporate world.
Though my dream job would be to own a farm down South. Or to be paid to workout.
2.) How long have you been doing CrossFit? Do you remember your first workout?
I started back in September, so 5 months now. I want to say I was by myself during a morning class; something like a # RFT of cals on the bike and cleans. I was pumped and thought I had it. I certainly did not have it
3.) What is your FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE CrossFit moves/lifts? List them all!
My favorites include: SWIM BIKE RUN! Meet ya guys at the pool… 🙂
I do like running, especially with the vest, or doing anything with the vest really.
DB snatch, american KB swings, Deadlift, Clean, Wallballs, odd object carries, box jump overs, I mayyy slightly like burpees even (says no one ever)
My least favorites include: Thrusters. And v-ups. UGH, maybe in future my hatred level for these movements will simmer down to a very strong disliking, but not any time soon.
A few months ago I would have said OH squats as well but I’ve learned to like those
4.) Do you have any favorite or lucky numbers we can incorporate into your workout (ie. birthdays, anniversaries, etc)?
13! I was born on a Friday the 13th. Also 22, two very impactful moments happened on the 22nd; the day my mom-mom passed away and the day I got engaged.
(I was going to say an absurd number, like 83 to see how you’d incorporate it, but thought better of doing that because I figured you would actually find a way….
5.) What does CrossFit mean to you – ie. positive impact on life? Significant changes? Things you’re proud of along your journey?
Crossfit is my daily designated “me time” where I get the opportunity to continually build on my relationship with myself. It’s just as mental and it is physical for me. Some days it may be a fight against the weights, and others it’ll be a fight against my mind but I go to bed every night a little stronger than I was when I woke up that morning. I may not be the fastest or strongest person in the room but I will always be the hardest working.
I like to say I’m the female version of Cole Sager. He was awarded the “Spirit of the Games” award during the 2017 Games. Upon winning he said the “value of the award bears so much weight for him because he wants to be known as the kindest person anyone has ever met.” — When I heard this, it had a resounding impact on me because I take pride in being viewed as the hardest worker but also as the kindest person; the purpose of my drive is to inspire others to work harder than ever before, to help others be the kindest, hardest-working version of themselves. The same version I work towards every single day during my “me time.”
6.) What’s your biggest CrossFit goal right now?
My end game is to make it to the games. Though I know I’m a little late to the party with the changes HQ made to the format of qualifying, but we are giving it a shot! In reality I would like to be competitive during the open within the next year (or 2).
My short term goal right now is to focus on overhead movements and shoulder strength. I tore and separated my shoulder a few years back playing soccer, and since then it has become like the lazy step-sibling to my right shoulder, doesn’t want to pull its own weight when doing work.
7.) What’s your favorite cheat meal / treat?
Ohhh see this is hard because of my allergies. My all time favorites are chili and fajitas; but one has tortillas and the other normally has gluten in the sauce so I typically steer clear altogether. However! Lactose allergen and all, my go to is ice-cream, and not the non-dairy stuff that taste like chalk, totally not appetizing. When I do have it, I go all in with the good stuff mint-chocolate chip (green kind) …. I will end up sick and in the bathroom the rest of the night, but oh so worth it!!!!
8.) Did you play any sports / activities growing up?
Sports were my life, I did a little bit of everything; karate, softball, basketball, volleyball, swimteam, lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, ski team … eventually I had to focus on 1 sport and ended up sticking with soccer. I played through college, regionally, nationally and even semi-professional.
9.) What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
Welp hate to say this but I’m pretty lame. Like really. Ok lets see…
I took 5 years of German in school. During the last year I had the opportunity to host a French foreign exchange student (yeah not sure how that worked out since ya know, I didn’t speak French) I ended up hating having someone follow me everywhere; but my family still keeps in touch with her now almost 15 years later.
Orrrr ….. I write poetry. I even have one published.
That’s all I got for you guys. See, lame!
10.) What hobbies do you have outside of CrossFit?
That swim, bike, run, IRONMAN life. #4 coming up in September. I also really enjoy water sports/activities such as wakeboarding, water skiing, jet skiing and boating. I’ve had my boating license for as long as I’ve had my drivers license.
11.) What’s your favorite song to workout to?
It’s BRITNEY B*TCH, anything from her is an instant dance party and ignites something inside.
