Competition helps to inspire and drive us to do better and go further. Sometimes the pressure to perform pushes you to train harder; the social boost of dozens of your best friends cheering for you will help you reach a higher plane. Even, watching your teammates push themselves is inspiring.
Every year, CrossFit HQ runs a five-week event called “The CrossFit Open“. We are taking this idea and making it our own. We’re not interested in finding out how fast you can exercise against 400,000 other people worldwide. We ARE interested in helping you push to new levels in fitness, level up your life, and get 1000 high fives from the BTG family. All while having some friendly competition.
Can we bring that worldwide thrill home to Norristown? Can we deliver all the fun of competition without causing any anxiety attacks? We think so.
The BTG Intramural Open is the 1st annual at Bridge The Gap.
We’ll divide you up into a couple of teams, each with a Team Captain and a clever name.
Our draft will happen between now and February 8. Everyone who signs up will get picked. Then it is your teams job to recruit other members who may not have joined thus far. Your team and captain can recruit whoever they want.
We will be using a private BTG scoreboard to keep the standing week by week. If you chose to test yourself against the rest of the world, you must sign up for the Open at the CrossFit Games Site. If you are unsure what that entails, grab a coach and we can chat. You are NOT required to sign up on the games site to participate in the BTG Open.
+1 Point – Attendance: every member of a team that completes an Open workout at BTG each week earns one point. Maximum one point per athlete per workout. This goes for Rx AND Scaled competitors!
+1 Point – Top 3: every male AND female member who places among the Top 3 at BTG for each workout (Rx and Scaled) gets an extra point for their team.
+5 Points (team) – Spirit: The team with the most noise, pride, and PRESENCE each week will receive 5 bonus points.
+1 Team picture, check in and tagging your teammates each week earns a point. 1 Point per post.
+3 For leaving a review on Google or Facebook
+1 Check-in to the gym on facebook.
+3 Everyone thats drafted gets a “I was drafted by “cool team name” – use this ticket to take a picture of yourself on social media and tag Bridge The Gap CrossFit.
+6 Points Submit a video testimonial on how Bridge The Gap CrossFit has changed your life.
In 2019, The Open will have five workouts; we have a BONUS event planned, which may take place at any time DURING the five weeks or up until a week after the last.
We will be running the Open workout Saturday morning in heats starting at 9AM during these 5 weeks. If for some reason you cannot attend the Saturday class, there is open gym time on Sunday’s where it can be completed as well. But remember you get more points if you show on Saturday and let’s be honest, your team wants you there.
Your membership gets you into the tests (they’re just like regular workouts, but more challenging and fun.) The sixth event will be a freebie for anyone registered on any Intramural team.

For most of our members, the Open is an annual measuring stick to test their improvements in fitness.
In the meantime, if you’re dying to get your first toes-to-bars, or link your pull-ups, tell your coach! We’ll get you some 1:1 time and homework!
The winning team will have a Banner hung in the gym with their team name on it, for all of eternity.
Our focus is on FUN. We want participation because it will make you fitter, and it will get you high-fives and you’ll be happy and love life more and glow and stuff. Sign up, get on a team, and encourage your BTG family.
