Fear not my friends, it’s never too late to start with fitness. Making some lifestyle changes which include consistent training paired with eating healthy means you can start training at the age of 80 and still see incredible health benefits.
I used the title of this article to prove a point. It could say I am a 7-year old house cat looking to get in shape, is it too late? (Obviously a cat would not type that though). The point being that we all tend to put excuses in front of ourselves to stop us from doing what we know is the right thing. At Bridge The Gap CrossFit we have people who have started their fitness journey at the age of 20 and we also have people who have started at 82.
It’s really never too late or too early to start making positive changes with your health and fitness. In fact if you are asking yourself that question, then the right time to get started is now. We all start at different points, with different physical abilities or limitations, and that’s ok, that’s what makes us each unique. What’s important is that you stop contemplating and get started. That’s why we are here to help you. We’ll guide you and help you go from Point A to Point B. And once you are all set at point B, we’ll help you get to Point C.
If you’re willing to toss out your old habits and routines that just aren’t working, for a new way of doing things, then you’re going to see that progress you have been looking for. On the other hand, if you’re not willing to make those choices and you think it’s ok to continue on with an unhealthy lifestyle, then you’re going to be in the same place next year and probably even worse. Simply put we are either getting healthier or we are getting unhealthy. That’s it.
The only excuses are the ones that you are making up each time you think of joining a gym or changing your diet. Are you going to change your lifestyle? Are you going to go for that walk today? Are you going to eat that bag of candy? Are you going to leave your comfort zone? It’s that simple. There’s literally nothing else getting in your way other than yourself.
You are capable of so much more than you can imagine. Age, injuries and what you did in the past have nothing to do with making progress or not making progress right now. It’s your current mental game and your actions right now that have everything to do with it. Change your mindset. Change your life.
